How to Play Tetris
Core Rules
- Fill a horizontal row to clear it. Clearing 1–4 rows at once earns 100, 300, 500, or 800 points × your current level.
- The game ends when the next piece, including a held piece, cannot enter at the top.
- Click HOLD, or press C / Shift, to save or swap a piece. You can do this once per falling piece; it becomes available again after that piece lands.
- The outlined ghost shows where the current piece would land. NEXT previews the next three pieces.
- Every 5 cleared rows raises the level. Automatic falling speeds up until it reaches its speed limit; play can continue beyond level 12.
- The LEVEL selector starts a new game immediately at level 1–12, resetting the board and score. New Game reuses your chosen starting level.
Useful Tips
- Keep the stack low and fairly flat; avoid holes beneath blocks.
- Check the ghost and next pieces before committing to a hard drop.
- Use HOLD when the current piece does not fit. Start at a lower level while learning.
